Welcome back to An Entrepreneur’s Logbook! Today is all about fresh starts, clean slates, and diving into the new year with energy. In this entry, I reflect on the first office day of the year—covering everything from cleaning and reorganizing our space to aligning on big-picture strategies with the team. If you’re looking for inspiration to jumpstart your own year, read on!
Shaking Off the Holiday Rhythm
It feels good to kick things off again after the slower holiday weeks. You know, those days where your rhythm gets totally thrown off—sleeping at 2 a.m., waking up around 9 or 10. But now? We’re back to a good old 6 a.m. start. Still a bit of a struggle—my body’s not fully onboard yet—but I’m determined to get back into a proper groove.
We kicked off the day with a team effort to declutter the office. Nothing too dramatic, but even small changes—like tidying up desks and clearing out old files—made a big difference. Fresh space, fresh mindset, right?
And speaking of fresh, we’re finally giving our accounting team a new office room. That’s been a long time coming. It’s one of those changes that feels overdue, but also perfectly timed now that the new year is here. If all goes as planned, it’ll be set up in just two days.
A Deep Dive into Strategy
The centerpiece of the day was a three-hour shareholder meeting. Yep, three hours. We went deep on aligning perspectives for this year and even started sketching ideas for the longer term. Meetings like this can feel a bit intense, but they’re so important.
One of the major topics we tackled was marketing and branding. We even scheduled more meetings—funny, since one of the first things we agreed on was cutting down on meetings this year. But this is integral because we’re making a major shift: we’re elevating our content production to the same level of importance as client projects.
This is a big move for us. It means rethinking workflows, prioritizing internal marketing efforts, and empowering the team to execute at a high level. Sure, it’ll be challenging, but the potential impact on our growth is exciting.
Another big focus today was tackling our internal organization system—the "notion OS" we’ve been using for a while. Over time, it’s become a bit chaotic, with everyone creating their own task lists and workflows. It’s reached a point where getting a clear overview of what’s happening across the team is very tricky.
January is the perfect time to fix this. Half the team is still out on holiday, so we have a rare moment of calm to clean things up and reorganize before client demands come flooding back.
This might sound boring, but trust me, it’s anything but. Having a well-organized system makes everything else run more smoothly, and it’s something we’ve been needing to address for a while. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about tidying up digital workflows.
By the end of today, I felt proud of where we’re headed. There’s so much to do, sure, but isn't that the most fun? Also, having the first day back packed with cleaning, planning, and aligning? It’s way more satisfying than easing in slowly. It feels like we’re already rolling, you know?
So that’s my update for today. How about you? How’s your start to the new year going? Wishing you all the best! + Let’s get going and make this year happen. Catch you in the next entry!
