Boost Your Productivity: Why Raycast Hacks My Entrepreneurial Everyday
So, you’re an entrepreneur juggling tasks left, right, and center, wondering if there’s an app that can actually shorten help without getting in the way. Well, let me introduce you to Raycast—my newest productivity friend that’s basically the Swiss Army knife of macOS. If you’re on Windows, I’m sorry—you’re on the waitlist for now.
Raycast’s main pitch is, “Your shortcut to everything. A collection of powerful productivity tools all within an extendable launcher. Fast, ergonomic and reliable.”
As the CEO of a growing, established media production company, founder of multiple endeavors, and builder of tools, my digital life is pure chaos—so trust me when I say Raycast’s ‘take shortcuts’ tagline is actually worth your wile. Every time I launch it, I feel like I'm slicing through clutter.
*This above is my referral link. If you use it, you do help me with this project here - but no matter if you do or not, damn, you should use Raycast.
#1 My time saver number one, damn, it's too good to be true: a lazy writer's grammar check shortcut enabled by ChatGPT.
It's so simple; it makes me happy every time: I just hit CTRL + G and, like magic, my lazy writing gets fixed.
The "fix spelling and grammar" AI command takes the selected text, rewrites it, and with the hit of Enter, it pastes it in the right place. And yes, it returns the text in its original language and keeps the format (or tries to).
I've set this shortcut in the very easy-to-use shortcut manager that is built into the core of Raycast. There is so much more, like a color picker or snippets that let me just type "taxid" and our ID gets pasted (without me having to remember it). Ok, I'll get into more details below.
#2 Quick App Launching (Because Life’s Too Short for a Cluttered Dock)
Raycast helps me ditch my dock entirely. A quick shortcut (for me, CMD + Space
replaced Spotlight), type a few letters, and BOOM: that app is running.
Furthermore, I now have shortcuts for everything—shortcuts that are easy to remember. Like CTRL + S for Superhuman (emails), CTRL + A for Arc (my browser), a shortcut to open my GIFs library, a calculator and so forth.
I banished half my icons from my dock because clutter kills my mood. Now, I just rely on Raycast’s quick search.
#3 Clipboard History: The best I've had
If you’re an entrepreneur, you’re probably copy-pasting all day—email replies, website URLs, discount codes, you name it. I'll make it short: Raycast has the best clipboard history I've ever used. You can search within it. You can edit the copied contents before pastign them again (like a mini editor), you get previews, and the clipbaord history is limitless. I use it every. single. day.
I also keep a handful of “Snippets” for repetitive text (like standard intros, disclaimers, etc.). Just type a few letters, press Enter—done.
If you’re a super-organized type, you can create categories for snippets (e.g., “Email Intros,” “Marketing Slogans,” “Favorite Meme Templates”). That might be a bit overkill, but hey, you do you.
#4 Task Management Integration: One more way to open fewer apps
You can quickly add tasks to your chosen task manager—like Todoist, Linear, or even Notion—right from the launcher. No need to open the (web-) apps. (Especially with Linear that worked great.)
And if your task manager isn't supported or available in the vast add-on library (like Akiflow, sadly ...), you can just trigger Apple Shortcuts from the launcher.
#5 Searching Notion Databases
Notion is where the company is administrated, but it’s also easy to get lost in a labyrinth of pages. Raycast helps here too. I type a few letters—“Notion Projects” for example—and I’m instantly in the relevant Notion database.
#6 Custom Scripts: If You Automate Everything
This is where it gets nerdy. You can build Script Commands with JavaScript, AppleScript, or Swift. If you can dream it (and code it), you can probably automate it.
But I’m not a coder!—no worries. The Raycast Store is full of pre-made scripts and integrations (TinyPNG for image compression, Slack for presence management, etc.). Download what you need, skip the code. Or ask AI to help you build an extension :)
#7 Quick AI and Custom AI Commands
Raycast has AI commands, chat, the ability to understand the screen content, and the option to switch between advanced models like Llama, ChatGPT, etc. - just a few keystrokes away. If you try it, you'll appreciate the speed. I use it when I'm stuck, when I have a question, when I need something checked, and when I need some feedback or correction - like one uses ChatGPT, but without hopping into the browser.
#8 Quicklinks & Multilinks
I used to have a bookmarks folder called “Daily.” You know—HR Tool, Notion, Ads Managers, CRM, ... Raycast’s Quicklinks let you open these sites instantly, so you can skip the whole bookmarks routine.
(I have a “dailies” multilink that opens about five tabs in one shot: My CRM, Notion, MS Teams, etc. One command.)
#9 Password manager: It's as fast as they should actually be
Naturally, I use a password manager. Often, it gets in the way. It's just not as fast as I need it to be, with all the authentication, verification, loading time, and whatnot. But here is a better way: I've integrated mine into Raycast (did some stuff to keep everything nice and safe; there are tutorials for how to integrate them properly), and now, with the push of a shortcut, my password search opens, and I can go about my work.
Final Thoughts
We thrive on momentum—when we’re in the zone, ideas flow, problems get solved, and magic happens. Raycast is one of those rare tools that keeps the momentum rolling by smoothing out the micro-hurdles: app-switching, snippet-finding, embracing AI for the right little things.
If you’re serious about leveling up your productivity game—and saving your precious mental energy for real innovation—Raycast is worth looking into. And if you’re on Windows, keep an eye on that waitlist!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to test a new script that’ll automatically check “markdown errors” in my blog drafts.
Got your own Raycast scripts or nerdy hacks? Drop ‘em in the comments or DM me on social. I’m always on the lookout for new ways to hack the day-to-day grind.
Thanks!
